Weather to remain chilly for most of this week in Latvia; snowfall expected on weekends

Weather will remain stable under influence of an active anticyclone in Latvia – no major precipitation is expected, days and nights will be rather chilly. At the end of the week, as a cyclone nears the country, some precipitation is expected. Air temperature will increase slightly and the sky will be covered by clouds, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

Some snowing will occur in central and eastern regions at the beginning of the week. Air temperature will drop under influence of the anticyclone – to -7° C… -12° C at night (-2° C… -7° C along the coast). The night to Tuesday is expected to be the coldest one this week, when air temperature in eastern regions will likely drop to – 20° C. Daytime air temperature will stay at -5° C… -10° C (+1° C… -4° C along the coast). Days will be sunny for the most part.

In the middle of the week no precipitation is expected, air temperature will remain similar to the beginning of the week, dropping to -9° C… -14° C (-19° C in southern parts of the country) on the night to Thursday. Air temperature will also be low along the coast: -3° C… -8° C. Daytime air temperature will remain around -5° C… -10° C (-11° C in eastern parts). Sky will remain clear during the day and at night. Wind will draw in from the east and south-east.
