Volume of alcoholic drinks produced in Latvia up 2% in five months

In the first five months of 2019, a total of 21 708 million litres of alcoholic drinks (except beer) was produced in Latvia, which is 2% more when compared to the same period of 2018, according to data from the State Revenue Service’s (SRS) compiled information on excise tax.

In the first five months of 2019, a total of 25.36 million litres of alcoholic drinks (aside from beer) was commissioned to trade locations in Latvia, which is 6.4% more than a year prior.

The amount of wine commissioned to trade locations was 5.687 million litres (11.3% more), vodka – 4.563 million litres (6.3% less), other fermented beverages (such as cider, not including grape wine and beer) 6.472 million (38.4% more), alcoholic cocktails – 1.294 million litres (44.6% less), as well as cognac and brandy – 1.049 million litres (2.5% more).

69.777 million litres of alcoholic drinks (aside from beer) were exported from Latvia in the first five months, which is 11.8% more when compared to the same period of 2018.
75.921 million litres of alcoholic drinks were imported to Latvia in the first five months of 2019 (aside from beer), which is 15.3% more when compared to the same period of 2018. This includes 37.188 million litres of wine, which is 26.6% more when compared to the same period of 2018.

In the first five months of 2018, a total of 21.28 million litres of alcoholic drinks (aside from beer) were produced in Latvia.
