The unemployment level in Latvia declined to 6.7% in April, which is 0.3 percentage points less than the level recorded in March, according to information compiled by Latvia’s State Employment Agency.
There were 64,631 unemployed people registered with SEA at the beginning of April. By the end of the month, however, their numbers had declined to 61,882.
The largest unemployment decline was observed in Kurzeme, where the level of registered unemployment had declined to 7.4% at the end of April. Unemployment in Latgale had declined by 0.5% percentage points – to 15.9%.
Vidzeme and Zemgale had also experienced unemployment declines – generally by 0.4 percentage points. In Vidzeme unemployment declined to 7.1%, whereas in Zemgale it declined to 6.4%.
The lowest unemployment level was registered in Riga region in April – 4.2%, which is 0.1 percentage points less when compared to March. Unemployment level in Riga remained unchanged and was 4% in April.
The overall unemployment level in Latvia was 7.8% at the end of April.
