A UFC fighter was seriously injured over the weekend.
Rachael Ostovich was attacked and hospitalized with a broken orbital bone, among other possible injuries, sources confirmed Monday with MMA Fighting. TMZ was the first to report the news Sunday night.
ESPN confirmed Ostovich’s condition with her Sucker Punch management team, reporting that Ostovich was treated at a hospital in her hometown of Honolulu and released.
TMZ reported in a later update that the Honolulu Police Department has opened up a felony domestic violence investigation in the case, but no arrest has been made. A request for information sent to the Honolulu PD from MMA Fighting has yet to be returned.
Ostovich, 27, is an alum of The Ultimate Fighter 27 with a 1-1 record in the UFC. She’s a member of the promotion’s flyweight division. Ostovich (4-4) is currently scheduled to fight Paige VanZant on the UFC’s ESPN+ debut card Jan. 19 in Brooklyn, but her injuries put that bout in jeopardy.
MMA Fighting reached out to the UFC for comment regarding the situation, but did not immediately get a response.
