Lithuanian families to receive one-off child benefits as part of pandemic mitigation

The Lithuanian parliament, Seimas, on Tuesday approved the president’s proposal to pay one-off child benefits to support families during the coronavirus pandemic. Three lawmakers voted against, four abstained, and 101 were in favour to pay 120 euros per child to most families, and 200 euros to families on low income and those raising children with disabilities. The Lithuanian parliament, Seimas, has on Tuesday adopted the social insurance fund’s budget for 2020 with 97 votes in favour, no votes against, and 10 abstentions. The fund’s revenue will stand at 4.894 billon euros, and expenses will amount to almost 4.55 billion euros. The Lithuanian parliament adopted on Thursday amendments to the Law on the Fundamentals of Protection of the Rights of the Child. All 71 lawmakers present voted in favor of the amendments.
