FCMC approves methodology for ABLV Bank’s liquidation

The Financial and Capital Market Commission (FCMC) at an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday approved the methodology for screening the creditors of ABLV Bank for the bank’s self-liquidation, FCMC spokeswoman Ieva Upleja reported LETA. ABLV liquidator Arvids Kostomarovs told LETA earlier that payments to creditors will be started not sooner than 2-3 months after FCMC approves the methodology. As part of European Central Bank’s Public Sector Securities Purchase Program, the Bank of Latvia procured at the end of July securities of international organizations in Latvia and Eurozone worth EUR 7.187 billion, according to information published by the Bank of Latvia. The Finance and Capital Market Commission has approved the ABLV Bank’ plan for voluntary liquidation, the head of the Finance and Capital Market Commission, Peters Putnins, announced at a news conference on Tuesday. The Latvian financial watchdog has also approved all four liquidators proposed by the bank – Arvids Kostomarovs, Andris Kovalcuks, Elvijs Vebers and Eva Berlaus. They are law and finance experts.
