Baltic power line disconnects, triggering emergency operations

Lithuania’s electricity grid operator, Litgrid, said a submarine power cable with Sweden disconnected abruptly on Sunday. Emergency supplies were activated in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. According to Litgrid, the 400 MW generated by Kruonis hydroelectric storage plant, and 100 MW supplied by Estonia and Latvia each are “enough to satisfy Lithuania’s needs”.
