As Latvia readies for the traditional summer solstice and Līgo festivities in the weekend, meteorologists expect the beginning of the week to be warm and sunny, whereas in the second half of the week, temperatures could rise and rain could set in.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre reported on Monday, June 17, that although the weather on Monday would be characterised by areas of rain throughout the territory of Latvia, clearer skies are expected in the coming days.
On Tuesday, June 18, and Wednesday, June 19, temperatures would be within the limits of +23 to + 28 degrees Celsius, while nights would be cooler: +10 to +15 degrees Celsius.
Changing weather in second half and weekend
In the second half of the week, areas of precipitation would cross the territory of Latvia bringing rain and gusts of wind. On Thursday, June 20, and the Solstice day of June 21, temperatures would rise to +25 to +30 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday, June 22, and the Līgo Sunday of June 23, weather forecasters predict the temperatures would drop to +18 to +23 degrees, but at night down to around +10 degrees Celsius.
