On June 6 Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis will travel to the Hague to take part in the Northern Group Defence Ministers meeting. The Ministers are planned to discuss security situation in the Baltic Sea and the North Atlantic regions, potential outcome of the upcoming NATO Summit, challenges in military mobility area and solutions to them.
The Northern Group includes the United Kingdom, the three Baltic states – Lithuania, Latvia, as Estonia, five Nordic countries – Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland, and Poland, the Netherlands, and Germany. The group is led by the United Kingdom.
The Northern Group meets at ministers and defence policy directors levels once-twice a yea. It last met in November.
After the meeting in the Hague Minister of National Defence R. Karoblis will take part in the NATO Defence Ministers Meeting in Brussels on June 7-8.
