Police busts document forgery lab in Lithuania

Vilnius’ police detained a man suspected of forging IDs and documents from Lithuania and other countries.

Officers searched the suspect’s house in Vilnius in January. In the house and in the suspect’s cars, they found more than 100 genuine and forged ID cards, car registration certificates, driving licenses, education diplomas, pensioner and student ID cards of Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Georgia, the UK, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Kosovo and Israel. The officers seized computers, printing equipment, memory devices and other equipment. The man was previously convicted of a similar offence several times already. He is now facing up to six years in prison.

Police said the documents are in high demand among migrants who use them to enter Lithuania and then travel to other EU countries.
