Polish legislators have extended prison terms for convicted paedophiles to a maximum 30 years. The Catholic country’s child abuse scandals have been underscored by a new documentary on such crimes by Polish priests.

French news agency AFP reported that on Thursday, May 16, Polish legislators voted overwhelmingly to support amendments to the criminal code that also introduces life sentences for the most dangerous paedophiles and remove a statute of limitations on prosecution of the most drastic cases of child sex abuse.

A new documentary entitled «Tell No One» by brothers Tomasz and Marek Sekielski has collected 18 million views since it was published on YouTube on Saturday, May 11.

It focuses on cases of child abuse in the Polish Catholic clergy, including frank dialogues between victims, now at an adult age, and priests.
