Over 700 people granted Estonian citizenship in 2018

More than 700 people, over half of them of undetermined citizenship, became naturalized citizens of Estonia during 2018.

As of Dec. 17, 2018, the Estonian government has granted citizenship of the Republic of Estonia to 721 people this year. Of these people 475 were stateless residents before, spokespeople for the Interior Ministry told BNS.

Of the new citizens of Estonia who previously held the citizenship of another country, 185 were citizens of Russia, 19 of Ukraine, seven of Latvia and six of Belarus.

There were also people among the naturalized citizens of Estonia who previously held the citizenship of Algeria, the United States, Colombia, Ivory Coast, Israel, Congo, Lithuania, Uganda, Romania and Pakistan.
