Over 700 healthcare workers have contracted the coronavirus in Lithuania since the pandemic broke out, and over 400 people have tested positive at schools, a public health official said.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, 729 infection cases have been confirmed among healthcare workers, and 293 of them are still ill,” Rolanda Lingienė of the National Public Health Centre (NVSC) said on Tuesday.
Of them, 310 cases were diagnosed over September and October, she added.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 cases have been recorded at 179 educational establishments in Lithuania since September 1 as 426 people have tested positive. They include 260 school students, 143 school workers and 23 people not directly involved in the education process.
Moreover, 93 university students have also tested positive for the coronavirus since October 1, Lingienė said.
There are currently 3,386 active cases of Covid-19 in the country.
A total of 34,624 people are in isolation.
