No new coronavirus cases in Lithuania – health minister

There have been no new cases of the coronavirus in Lithuania since Friday when the first case was diagnosed in Šiauliai, northern Lithuania, according to Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga.

Fifteen people were tested for the coronavirus on Monday and the results came back negative, Veryga said on Monday, adding that another seven tests had yet to be carried out.  Read more:  Lithuania confirms first case of coronavirus, to deploy troops in airports    A 39-year-old woman was the first, and so far, the only person affected by the coronavirus. She was diagnosed on Friday after coming back from a conference in Italy. She only had mild symptoms and was subsequently treated in a hospital in Šiauliai, northern Lithuania.

When asked if the woman had recovered, Veryga told reporters that two tests had yet to be carried out.

“According to international recommendations, a patient is considered to have recovered when they test negative twice. A sample was taken today and will be tested. This is the first test. If nothing changes, we’ll have to wait for that 24-hour interval and [do] a second test,” he said.She is in good health and her family members, as well as her colleagues two travelled with her to Italy, have tested negative for the coronavirus.
