Vitalijus Andrejevas, the head of the Lithuanian Road Administration, was dismissed by Transport Minister Jaroslav Narkevič on Friday.
Andrejevas will be replaced by Remigijus Lipkevičius as acting director. The ministry said the purpose of the move was “ensuring smooth and effective operation of the Road Administration”.
Andrejevas said he was not given any explanation for the dismissal, adding that he would appeal it.
“To my knowledge, I have not committed any violations, and if the decision [on the dismissal] is based on some suspected violations, with no doubts, I will appeal,” Andrejevas told BNS.
Andrejevas was appointed to head the Lithuanian Road Administration in November 2018, having won the ministry’s competition for the position.
Before that, he was the administration’s acting director for a year after his predecessor Egidijus Skrodenis stepped down.
