Lithuanian president in self-isolation over suspected Covid-19 among his staff

Employees of the presidential office, including the president himself, have been instructed to self-isolate after it emerged that one staff member could have been in contact with a person with Covid-19.

The news website has quoted President Gitanas Nausėda’s spokesman Ridas Jasulionis, saying that the president and his family have self-quarantined until the employee is tested for the coronavirus.

He said that the staff member in question communicated with a possibly infected person last week.

“We do not know if the person had been already infected during the contact,” Jasulionis told BNS. “We know that he tested positive now, but not whether he was infected at that time.”

The president’s offices are being disinfected, he added.
