Lithuanian diplomat to head EU mission in Laos

Ina Marčiulionytė, a former ambassador of Lithuania in China, has assumed a new office as the head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Lao PDR on Tuesday.

Marčiulionyte told BNS earlier she had been encouraged to take up the office by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Marčiulionytė served as Lithuania’s ambassador to China since September 2015.

With a population of around 7 million, Laos remains one of the poorest countries in Asia is under major political and economic influence of Vietnam.
