Lithuania to spend €24m on Belarus upgrade border crossing

Lithuania has signed a 24-million-euro deal with contractors to upgrade the Medininkai border crossing with Belarus.

Lithuania’s Directorate of Border Crossing Infrastructure on Wednesday signed a 30-month contract, worth 24.18 million euros, with a consortium of Conresta, Kauno Tiltai and Euroelektronika, the country’s Transport Ministry said in a press release.

The border checkpoint would comply with all European Union’s requirements, Transport Minister Jaroslav Narkevic said adding that the crossing point would be able to handle up to 6,000 passenger cars and up to 2,000 trucks per day after the reconstruction.
