Lithuania tightens rules on public events to counter rising coronavirus infections

The Lithuanian government decided on Wednesday to tighten rules on public events in order to stem the spread of Covid-19.

Organisers of all public gatherings – including non-commercial and free events – will have to distribute tickets or register attendees so as to have a way to trace people in case of an infection outbreak.

Until now, the requirement only applied to events of over 300 people.

“The changes to event rules will help better enforce […] social distancing and contact tracing,” Interior Minister Rita Tamašunienė said in a statement.
