Lithuania secures €100m loan from European development bank

The Council of Europe Development Bank has extended a long-term loan of 100 million euros to Lithuania to be used for constructing or renovating facilities for culture, health, education or sports.

The loan agreement was signed by Lithuanian Finance Minister Vilius Šapoka and the banks’ vice governor on Wednesday, the Ministry of Finance said.

The loan will be used to fund over 60 projects planned as part of the government’s 2019-2021 investment programme worth 201 million euros.

Since 1996, the bank has financed numerous projects in Lithuania with a total value of over 500 million euros.
