The State Children Rights Protection Inspectorate (VBTAI) head Marianna Dreja will step down from her position on February 28, Welfare Minister Ramona Petravica (KPV LV) said in an interview with commercial TV3 television February 19.
The minister said that Dreja had been on a sick leave for several months, and an agreement of terminating the job contract with her by mutual agreement has been signed.
Asked about recent reports that employees of the institution had been dissatisfied with Dreja’s work, the minister said that officials had agreed not to comment on the situation in public.
This week the minister will decide whether to announce a tender for the position or appoint a new head based on a rotation principle.
LTV reported earlier that VBTAI employees had sent a letter to the welfare minister, the State Chancellery and the government, complaining about Dreja’s work and management style.
Dreja took office on March 1, 2018. Before that she has worked as deputy director and then director of the Employment Agency’s Legal Department, overseeing different projects.
