Latvia takes over presidency in Baltic Assembly, Baltic Council of Ministers from Lithuania

Latvia today takes over the presidency in the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Council of Ministers from Lithuania, according to the information published by the Latvian Foreign Ministry.

Latvia’s priorities in the Baltic Council of Ministers will be strengthening security in the region, development of regional connectivity and protection of common interests in the EU, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics said earlier.

The Baltic Assembly is a coordinating and advisory body for the parliamentary cooperation between Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania and comprises lawmakers from all three Baltic states.

The Baltic Council convenes once a year and brings together members of parliament and foreign ministers of the Baltic states.
