As a result of a reform in state administration last year, the number of posts in state administration has been reduced by approximately 500. This year’s plan is similar, said the head of State Chancellery Jānis Citskovskis in an interview to 900 seconds programme of LNT.
He says that last year’s goal has been reached. Nevertheless, there are certain differences to be addressed. «We hope for the same reduction this year,» adds Citskovskis.
Commenting on the ongoing selection process to find the next chief of Anti-money Laundering Service, Citskovskis mentioned that there are certain noteworthy candidates.
He also mentions that the current head of the service – Viesturs Burkāns – is considerable. Nevertheless, after being in charge of the institutions for 20 years it is entirely possible he has reached a burnout point. At the same time, Citskovskis says that contenders will be evaluated using professional criteria.
