Pupils and students in Latvia, who are from families of three or more children, will from September 1 receive a 90% discount from the price of a ticket for a trip with a regional-route bus or train.
The Latvian Road Transport Direction stated this week that the other members of a large family will be eligible to a 50% discount from the price of one ticket and pay 40% less for a multi-trip subscription ticket.
The decision has been made by the Latvian government.
The Road Transport Direction explained: «Currently, large families, when travelling with regional-route buses and trains can receive a 25% discout from the price of a single ticket and a 20% discount from the price of a subscription ticket. From September 1, the size of the discount will be double».
