Estonian president Kersti Kaljulaid has taken part in the New York City Marathon covering the 42,195-metre distance during her visit to the U.S.
According to the Twitter account of the Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid, on Sunday, November 4, she participated in the major sporting event was one of the 50,773 runners to reach the finish line. Kaljulaid posted on the micro-blogging site that her time has been 04:02:40, which is faster than the average time of all competitors, which according to the event’s official web site has been 4:39:07.
«Rather astonishing to be at the finish line with so many happy people. Thank you, @NYCmarathon, thank you to all the volunteers and thank you to all the people cheering everyone else on!» Kailjulaid expressed gratitude on Twitter.
The winners of the marathon Mary Keitany of Kenya and Lelisa Desisa from Ethiopia finished with at 2:22:48 and 2:05:59 respectively.
