Estonia to announce 1st procurement for construction of eastern border soon

The Estonian Police and Border Guard Board is about to announce the first procurement for the construction of a section of the Estonian-Russian border at the end of January, informed LETA/BNS.

Interior Minister Katri Raik told reporters on Wednesday that the procurement for the contract to build the first section of the border will be announced on the last days of January.

Spokespeople for the South Prefecture of the Police and Border Guard Board said that the procurement was still being prepared.

The procurement would be for a contract to build, based on the example of the test section of the border already completed, the section of the border from the three-way meeting point of the national borders of Estonia, Latvia and Russia to the border checkpoint of Luhamaa.
