Eight building associations have placed offers for the construction of the Rail Baltica station infrastructure at the Riga International Airport, company Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas said September 16.
According to the company, the project is large and complex and the specific nature of the project requires combination of local and foreign construction experience.
“The combination of local and foreign builders’ expertise will be a benefit to the project. Under the constraints of the pandemic, it was difficult for candidates to coordinate and prepare a complex financial and technical offer internationally. It involves hundreds of specialists. By the end of the year, an evaluation of the tenders submitted will take place to conclude a contract to launch the construction work next year,” said Kaspars Vingris, Chairman of the Board of Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas .
Rail Baltica project implementer in Latvia launched an international competition in two rounds in November 2019. 1 1 applications from Latvian, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, French, Turkish and Austrian companies were submitted for the first round of the competition. All 11 candidates qualified for the second phase.
It was previously estimated that the total amount of procurement could be within the range of €250 million to €280 million.
