Wednesday, October 14 brought 102 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Latvia. In total 2,942 cases of coronavirus have now been recorded in the country.
The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said 5,078 tests were conducted during the previous 24-hour period, the first time more than 5,000 tests have been carried out in a single day.
In total 373,523 tests have been carried out since February 29.
So far 1,325 patients have recovered from infection and 41 have died.
Data from the National Health Service (NVD) show that the number of patients being treated in hospitals continues to rise. Currently, 75 patients are being treated in hospitals, up from 70 on Tuesday. 67 patients show moderate symptoms of the disease, eight have severe symptoms.
LTV reported that on October 14 Lithuania recorded 139 new cases of coronavirus and Estonia recorded 40.
On October 13 the 14-day cumulative number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 of population was 55.6 in Latvia, 62.9 in Lithuania and 46.5 in Estonia, according to data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control .
The threshold for the introduction of compulsory self-isolation upon arrival in Latvia is now pegged to Latvia’s own rate last Friday of 40.4. The rate is subject to weekly revision.
