Man living alone dies from Covid-19, ‘unclear’ point of infection  A seventeenth person has died from Covid-19 in Lithuania, the Health Ministry said on Friday. Meanwhile, the total number of infections rose to 999 as of Friday morning. Remigijus Mažeika, head of Republican Šiauliai Hospital, said the patient was over 60 years old, lived in a small Gruzdžiai town, and didn’t visit a doctor for some 30 years, because he was afraid of medics. “It’s a very curious and strange case, because it’s a small town, [the person was staying at] home, and it’s simply unclear where the virus came from,” said Mažeika. “This is a very important epidemiological [study and] a search for contacts.” The patient died on Thursday, but was diagnosed with Covid-19 only after his death on Friday. “Therefore, we’re registering [the cause of] death as Covid-19,” said Mažeika. On Thursday, Lithuania reported 44 new cases of the novel coronavirus. In all, 3,242 people were tested for Covid-19 on Thursday, and 36,051 tests have been carried out in Lithuania since the beginning of the pandemic.
