Coronavirus update: 13 new infections in Lithuania, 7 from unknown sources


Thirteen new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Lithuania over Thursday, the National Public Health Centre (NVSC) said on Friday.

Two of the new cases are linked to infections abroad. A person was diagnosed with COvid-19 after returning from Ukraine on July 27.

Another person returned from Lithuania from Belarus on the same day and was tested as a precaution. Both have avoided contacts with people since return.

Four people diagnosed with Covid-19 on Thursday had had physical contact with known carriers of the virus.

Meanwhile, public health officials could not identify the source of seven other infections.

The country’s total Covid-19 count is 2,075. Only 338 of them are active cases, while 1,644 people have recovered.

Eighty people have died of Covid-19 in the country so far, and another 13 coronavirus-infected patients have died of other causes.

Since June 1, the country has reported 94 cases of coronavirus infection contracted abroad.
