Lithuania has confirmed 12 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the country’s total to 1,616 the National Public Health Centre said on Saturday. In total, 1,135 people have already recovered.
An elderly person with chronic illnesses has died from Covid-19 in Telšiai, western Lithuania, bringing the country’s total number of deaths from the coronavirus to 63. Eight people who had the virus died from other causes.
In the last 24 hours, Vilnius City Clinical Hospital reported three new infections – a worker, a patient and his relative. Two infections were also reported at Santara Clinics in Vilnius – a patient and his relative.
Out of the 12 new infections, two were so-called imported cases – one person who recently came back from St Petersburg, Russia via Belarus, and another person who returned from Finland via Estonia.
On Friday, 5,839 samples were tested for the virus out of the total of 264,882 since the pandemic began.
