Airline suspends flights from Vilnius to Milan due to coronavirus

The budget airline Wizz Air announced on Sunday it was suspending flight between Vilnius and Milan after the Italian government put Lombardy and 14 other central and northern provinces under quarantine in order to bring the coronavirus outbreak under control.

Flights from the Lithuanian capital to Milan’s Malpensa Airport will be suspended until April 3, the company said. Passengers will be able to get refunds.

About 16 million people in northern Italy were placed under quarantine on Sunday to contain the spread of the new virus in the country.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte decided to restrict movement in large northern areas, including Milan and Venice. The restrictions will be in place until April 3.
