Latvian State Police has detained businessman Jāzeps Zukuls, board chairman of baked goods producer Adugs , on suspicion of human trafficking, the LETA news agency reported November 20.  Last week, State Police detained an organized group on suspicion of human trafficking, laundering of criminally obtained  capital, and causing bodily harm, police said. The EF English Proficiency Index released its 2020 result s November 20, ranking Latvia on the lower border of the ‘high proficiency’ category in 29th place. In the second-highest column Latvian participants in the interactive voluntary test placed last, trailing among others both Lithuania and Estonia, ranking respectively 24th and 25th. COVID-19 case total rises by 380 in Latvia

Latvia recorded another 380 new cases of COVID-19 on November 20, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). 7,016 tests were carried out in the previous 24-hours of which 5.4% were positive. That figure is half the 11% rate the previous day. Baltic states expand Belarus sanctions list

Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia have agreed to expand their existing sanctions for Belarusian officials and added the country’s information and sports ministers and police officers onto their blacklists on Friday. According to figures specified by the Health Ministry, Lithuania registered a record 2,272 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday Moreover, 16 people died from the disease over the last day.
