COVID-19 case count at record level for second day in a row

On October 24 Latvia recorded 259 new cases of COVID-19, the largest daily total yet recorded since the start of the pandemic, according to the Disease Prevention and Contol Center (SPKC). It breaks the record number of 250  recorded just 24 hours earlier. The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,467. There were  four more deaths. One victim was in the 45 to 50 age bracket and three in the 80 to 90 age range.…

Nordica, LOT sign good intentions agreement

The Estonian state airline Nordica signed a good intentions agreement with the Polish airline company LOT to buy out a 49 percent stake in Regional Jet, a joint venture of the two companies. NyxAir to start Tallinn-Saaremaa flights from December 21

Airline NyxAir is to start operating flights between Tallinn and Saaremaa from December 21. NyxAir has signed an agreement with the relevant authority, the Road Administration (Maanteeamet), after winning the tender to operate the route, replacing Lithuanian carrier Transaviabaltika. To flee the Soviet Union, some Lithuanians had to employ drastic measures – like hijacking a civilian airliner.
