COVID-19 case total for Latvia increases by more than 100

October 8 saw the largest daily increase so far in confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Latvia, with 109 new cases registered. It is the first time since the start of the pandemic that more than 100 cases have been detected in a single day. The previous highest daily total was 95 cases, recorded on September 30. Lithuania has signed a 24-million-euro deal with contractors to upgrade the Medininkai border crossing with Belarus.
