Light-metal disc manufacturer SMW has transferred production from Russia to Latvia, partially business park “Mežgarciems”, near Carnikava, and partially Riga, said company spokeswoman Sandra Baltruka July 30. Lithuania’s GDP contracted by 3.7 percent in the second quarter of 2020, compared to a year ago, a smaller dip than previously expected. Officials in Latvia said they had registered four new cases of COVID-19 on July 30, with the total number since the start of the pandemic rising to 1,228 on Wednesday. No further fatalities were announced, with the death toll remaining on 31. The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said 1,704 tests had been conducted during the previous 24-hour period.
