Another 12 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Latvian territory May 1, increasing the total number of cases from 858 on Thursday to 870 on Friday. One more death was also recorded. Another 12 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Latvian territory May 1, increasing the total number of cases from 858 on Thursday to 870 on Friday. One more death was also recorded. The new figure was released by the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) which said 3,234 tests had been conducted during the previous 24-hour period. Latvia: Examinations for 9th-graders scrapped this year

The government on April 30 approved the Education and Science Ministry’s proposal that school leaving examinations for 9th-grade students should not be held this year. Meanwhile 12th-graders will have to take their exams. State examinations for 9th-graders will be cancelled this year, except for the state language examinations for those minority school students who want to take the exams.
