GetJet Airline lays off 370 employees in Lithuania

Lithuania’s wet-lease and charter services provider GetJet Airline has handed lay-off notices to 370 employees, the Employment Service said. These include 14 technicians, eight flight coordinators, six maintenance control coordinators, five crew coordinators, five auditors and four financial controllers. Funeral home employees mysteriously contract Covid-19

Six employees of the Jelgava funeral home Velis-A were found to have contracted the Covid-19 novel coronavirus, according to the company’s board chair Aldis Knāviņš, who himself had also tested positive for the virus, on March 30. The number of confirmed cases of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus in Latvia increased to 398 on Tuesday, March 31. A further 22 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Latvian territory, raising the total number of cases from 376 on Monday to 398 on Tuesday. Flights organised by Lithuania to repatriate its citizens stuck abroad due to the  coronavirus   crisis have cost the state almost 150,000 euros, Transport Minister Jaroslav Narkevič said on Monday. Forty-two new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Lithuania on Tuesday, bringing the country’s total to 533, the Health Ministry said.
